This is a very rare French cupping set / artificial leech combination. The cups are marked Rosenmund A Paris. The set contains 2 cups, each fitted with a brass stop-cock mechanism and a breast cupping cup. All cups fit onto the brass evacuation syringe. The set also contains a screwdriver to remove the brass fittings from the cups. The unusual part about this set is the scarificator.
The scarificator pictured above is a very unusual item. Unlike the common blade mechanisms seen in most cupping sets. This unit contains 8 metal spikes on a brass plate. The entire plate can be raised or lowered by turning the plunger. The base is spring-loaded and would depress into the patient with pressure on the top plunger. A set with an identical scarificator is in the collection of Doug Arbittier, his is marked by an Italian maker, Lollini.
